Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a dedicated foster-based dog rescue in Massachusetts, has announced an upcoming event at a local establishment on Cape Cod that will have many adoptable pups currently being fostered in attendance. This event is the perfect place to meet dogs looking for forever homes if you’re looking to add a furry friend to your family, or a great event to meet current foster families if you’re interested in learning how to become a foster home for rescue dogs.

As a foster-based rescue based in Massachusetts, Sandy Paws Rescue doesn’t have a shelter location, and visits with dogs are usually by appointment only, as their dogs reside in private homes or kennels until adoption. If you’re interested in adopting a furry friend through Sandy Paws Rescue, this event is a great opportunity to meet many adoptable dogs all in one place without having to go between each individual foster home.

• We are a state-approved and licensed rescue in MA. License #0272
• Food and supplies are provided by Sandy Paws
• Any medical expenses must be approved first, but are covered by Sandy Paws
• Pickup is from the state-mandated isolation facility in Westport, MA
• Foster homes can be located anywhere in MA or RI!
• You do NOT need to be home 24/7. Most foster parents in our network work out of the home.
• A fenced yard is not required! Apartment dwellers can foster too.
• You will need to keep your foster dog until he/she is adopted. Average time in foster care is typically 2-6 weeks. You can help speed this up by providing photos and personality info for our team to share on social media!
• We cannot accept breed-specific requests for fostering, as we don’t typically know the breed of our dogs. We can, however, typically accommodate if you are only able to foster puppies vs adults, or large dogs vs small.
• Goodbye is the goal! Yes, it can be very difficult to say goodbye to your foster pup. But wouldn’t you rather experience a little heartbreak saying goodbye, as they go off to a loving family, versus a lot of heartbreak knowing you didn’t step up to save their life? A lot of our adoptive families stay in touch with their foster families and share updates!

Sandy Paws Rescue is a 100% volunteer-only operation, with most volunteers balancing full-time jobs alongside their rescue work. They explain that “our only personal gain is from seeing our dogs placed in wonderful homes.” The rescue relies entirely on donations to continue their mission. With costs including interstate transport, medical care, food, and supplies, running a dog rescue is financially demanding. “Our adoption fees do not cover the amount that we spend on our puppies/dogs to vet and transport them,” explains Sandy Paws Rescue. To help support their mission, this upcoming event will have a $5 entrance fee, with all proceeds going directly to support the rescue’s operations.
