Where WiFi is sparse, but wonder is abundant ✨ (updates inside for paid members)
Hello!
I’m writing to you from Sarnath in northern India, a Buddhist pilgrimage site not far from the ancient holy city, Varanasi. Adam and I have spent the last two weeks living with a Tibetan Lama and his family, who built a housing and meditation colony here over 30 years ago, and who we’ve been so lucky and grateful to have been connected with.
Adam is here continuing his study of Tibetan Buddhism (he began his MA in Tibetan Studies at Oxford two years ago), and I’m here writing and reading in the family’s vegetable garden, learning how to make Tibetan chapati, and slowly recovering from a series of health challenges. (Norovirus, a stubborn cold, stomach woes, and air pollution allergies — what a combo!)
It’s magical here. We’re surrounded by stupas, ruins, and all the masala tea a girl could ask for. What we’re not surrounded by, however, is WiFi of any description! 😆
