If writing and typing were to step in a boxing ring, the skinny No. 2 pencil wouldn’t even stand a chance. The speedy 10-finger keyboard would win every time.

Or so says three fourth-grade students learning to type in Selea Shores’ English Language Arts class at Southport Elementary School in Panama City. All three students cite the Typesy computer program’s script legibility, font size adaptability and of course … the (educational) games.

“We hand wrote everything,” Shores said of her fourth-grade days. “(But) we do essay writing … handwriting in small groups. And we normally do cursive toward the end of the year.”
