Beginning Jan. 7, high schoolers can participate in the Young Writers’ Studio, which will be presented by Thurber House every other Tuesday through May 13.

Each session will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Thurber Center, 91 Jefferson Ave., next door to Thurber House. Can’t make it in person? No worries — you can attend in real time via Zoom.

Facilitator Frances Wiley (she/they) will lead young writers in exercises and activities to inspire out-of-the-box thinking. Wiley has long been involved with Thurber House as a student, camp counselor and children’s and adult workshop instructor. Additionally, they’re a Young Writers’ Studio alum.

Part of each session will be devoted to peer discussion and feedback. Students can bring in their writing to be reviewed in a nurturing environment. Those who choose not to share can still participate by learning how to constructively discuss writing while helping other writers improve their work.

The 10 sessions can be taken individually for $17 each or as a full season costing $150. A limited number of scholarships are available. To register for the Young Writers’ Studio, go to bit.ly/3BXy3os.
