HANNIBAL, Mo. (KHQA) — After receiving data from the latest state school improvement system, the Hannibal School District is grateful to have received the numbers they got.
According to the Missouri School Improvement Program assessment, or MSIP for short, the school district scored an 80 percent, which is the highest the district has received.
Hannibal Schools Curriculum Director Corey Bennett says he is grateful to see the improvements.
“We easily passed the bar for accreditation and hit high compared to other schools even. Every school has been working towards this goal, there’s been new measures in the last three years, and glad to say that we’re really hitting that higher mark this year,” Bennett said.
The 80 percent is an improvement from the past two years the district has been reviewed.
In 2022, when the measure first began, the school district received a 75.8 percent.
The percentage then went down slightly in 2023 to 75.6, before achieving this year’s great benchmark.
The district says the synergy of everyone throughout all the schools were a key role in this achievement.
“Teachers and students, everybody works together to make those improvements happen, and our improvements this year are largely attributable to our student achievement data, and our students doing well on our state assessment at the end of the year,” Bennett added.
Among the highest achievements were the e-l-a numbers in elementary, and the high school receiving great numbers in algebra 2.
Bennett says the hope is to make this year’s number better for the next one.
“The excitement of the staff is paramount. Everyone that works together and collaborates and looks forward to what we can do best for kids.”
